Plan International is a Founding Member of the Children in a Changing Climate Coalition
Plan International supported a group of young journalists from Indonesia, Kenya, UK, Sweden and the Netherlands to attend COP15 and have the opportunity to creatively and widely share their views on climate change via traditional and new media. The young journalists attended press conferences, interviewed key delegates and shared their accounts via daily blogs and news outlets reporting from Copenhagen.

During the UNFCCC Copenhagen COP which took place December 7-18th, Plan supported children’s engagement from the North and South, to ensure greater understanding and input in the negotiation process for a global follow-up agreement to the Kyoto Protocol, and in particular its implications on children’s well being.
Why should children take part in the UNFCCC negotiations?
- Climate change compromises children’s future.
- Children are very worried about climate change, their environment, inequality, and poverty.
- Children around the world are listening to the debates and in Copenhagen young journalists will be watching, monitoring and reporting on the negotiations.
